Understanding the Core Hardware of Electrologixs Systems


An Electrologixs unit is the main hardware component of the Electrologixs family of electronic interlocking systems used in railway signaling. It is a microprocessor-based controller designed to execute the vital safety logic that controls signals, switches, and other railway infrastructure within an interlocking area.

Electrologixs units are engineered to meet strict Safety Integrity Levels (SIL), meaning they are designed to operate safely and reliably while preventing hazardous train movements. These systems are considered fail-safe and are built to detect faults and place the system into a safe condition if problems occur.

The Electrologixs unit receives inputs from field devices such as track circuits, switch position detectors, and signal status indicators. The unit processes these inputs using programmed interlocking logic developed with proprietary safety-oriented software.

After processing the information, the Electrologixs unit generates outputs that control field equipment. These outputs may clear or stop signals, move switches, establish safe train routes, and perform other vital railway signaling functions.

Common features of Electrologixs units include modular design, redundancy, self-diagnostics, and communication interfaces for integration with other railway systems such as dispatching systems or Communication Based Train Control (CBTC).
